  Because the water-based ink uses water as the dissolving carrier, it hardly emits volatile organic gas (VOC) to the atmosphere whether in its production process or when it is used for printing,. This is unmatched by solvent based inks. Solvent based ink emits a large amount of low concentration VOC in the production process. According to the estimation, if the general solvent ink manufacturing plant adopts the production equipment that is not completely sealed, the volatilization loss of organic solvent accounts for about 0.3% ~ 1% of the ink output. For the treatment of low concentration VOC, except that a few ink factories adopt high-cost treatment methods such as activated carbon adsorption, most of them are directly discharged into the atmosphere at high altitude. Moreover, during the printing process, the organic solvent in the solvent based ink is almost completely dried and volatilized rapidly. In addition to the high concentration VOC above the printing press, such as catalytic combustion or microbial treatment process, the low concentration VOC diffused in the air of the printing workshop is often directly discharged into the atmosphere. If the proportion of organic solvent in the solvent based ink is 25% ~ 35%, The amount of VOC directly discharged into the atmospheric environment is quite amazing. The water-based ink just overcomes this disadvantage. This unique characteristic of no pollution to the atmospheric environment is being favored by more and more printing enterprises.
